After a series of speculations and rumors, iOS 8 has finally arrived for end users on September 17. UI changes that the new OS brings are too many in number. Some users however have pointed out the OS is not for everyone.

Not really, but since Apple has made downgrading almost impossible, it’s better to know how to keep the annoying issues at bay before upgrading to iOS 8. Message alert could prevent you from replying to a message, received earlier.

The text alert system is not annoying on its own. But when accompanied by consecutive message alerts, it ruins replies. When a text alert pops up, you need to tap on it to give a reply to the message without going into the message. But when you are typing the reply, if another message alert pops up, the reply text that you’ve typed so far will get deleted.

Solution

The solution is pretty easy and simple. To fix this issue, you need to change your notifications setting to ‘Banners’ from ‘Alerts’.

The predictive texts keep appearing, resulting annoyance for you when you type.

How it creates trouble

The overhauled keyboard brings some new features, but it creates problems as well. When a user types, the keyboard keeps predicting the next text. It gets clues from the way a user types and prediction is based on the context. Apparently helpful but those who are not savvy with it, might find this feature troublesome.

Solution

Solution is fairly simple. Just go to ‘Settings’, tap on ‘Keyboard’ and then turn ‘Predictive’ off.

Normally it is useful for users to share data with apps. However, there are various types of apps and many of them would configure user data if full access is given to them. This way, third party app developers could get get their hands on user’s data without a user’s consent.

Solution

To solve this issue, go to ‘Settings’, then tap on ‘Privacy’ and then select whatever you’d like to share with apps.

Deleted pictures stays in iCloud.

How it creates trouble

The pictures that you are deleting, aren’t really getting deleted. Once it is deleted from your device, it goes to the ‘Recently Deleted’ album in the iCloud.

Solution

There’s no permanent solution because you can’t disable the backup album in iCloud. So you need to manually go to the album and empty it every time you delete a picture from your device.

Sent videos and audio clips are deleted after a certain period of time.

How it creates trouble

Even if you don’t want a video or an audio clip to get deleted, it may still get deleted if sent to other users.

Solution

To solve this problem go to ‘Settings’, then ‘Messages’ and set the expiration date on audio and video messages ‘Never.’
