The iPad Mini 5 is slated to feature a 7.9-inch retina display like the iPad mini 4. The device, however, will have a 7000-series aluminum chassis, which will make the tablet sturdier and more durable in comparison to the previous iteration in the same device line-up. The tablet is slated to come out with 2K resolution along with 3D touch technology which was introduced with the iPhone 6s in 2015.
A9 Chipset and iP68 Water Resistivity
On the hardware front, the iPad Mini 5 is slated to house Apple’s A9 processor inside along with an M9 co-processor, which offers support for motion tracking. The upcoming device is pegged to be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB sized variants. The tablet will be running on iOS 10.1.1 with immediate updates to subsequent versions. Other significant features pertaining to the design aspect of the device point at the replacement of the 3.5 mm headphone jack by the D-jack. Something, which is quite a concrete possibility owing to Apple’s iPhone 7 design and also the iP68 water-resistivity, which the Mini 5 is slated to sport. The device is also rumored to offer support for a Smart Connector port along with further speculations that the Mini 5 might just come out with the Apple Pencil, something which we all know is in works at Cupertino.

Coming to the variants, along with different on-board memory options, the iPad Mini 5 is also pegged to come out in different sized variants. Reports stated the new iPad Mini will feature three different sizes like 7.9-inch, 9.7-inch, and 10.5-inch variants. Coming to the optics department, not much is clear about how the good the iPad Mini 5’s camera will be. Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus had set up a benchmark for device cameras since its launch in September 2016 and Apple will be looking to replicate the same success with their upcoming devices. The iPad Mini 5 is pegged to sport a similar dual-lens camera setup with 12MP wide-angle and 12MP telephoto lens incorporated inside. Some reports state that the sensors for the camera setup will be manufactured by Sony with a front 8MP shooter also a possibility. The rear camera is set to incorporate a professional mode for advanced photography as well as requisite camera functions like HDR, OIS and dual-tone LED flash.
