Apple has released two beta versions to developers so far. The industry was ripe with speculations and the air was so heavy with rumors that one could almost slice through it with a jackknife – it was prior to the beta releases.
iOS 8.3 was supposed to be a major update with a slew of new features. The features were rumored to center mostly around wireless CarPlay support. The digital voice assistant Siri also rumored to support seven new languages – Duch, Thai, Swedish, Portuguese, Russian, Danish and Turkish.
Majority of the rumors turned true. On the second iOS 8.3 beta, Siri speaks all seven languages that we mentioned above. The first beta was released around two weeks back. The build number of the beta was 12F5027d and it included Xcode 6.3 beta with Swift 1.2 language. The first beta came with a number of bug fixes other than new features.
The first beta brought around some interesting features. The new wireless CarPlay features were offered. To access the CarPlay setting, a user needs to go to Settings, then General, he will find this feature below Siri and Spotlight Search. At this moment, a user can connect his iPhone to CarPlay only through the Lightning port. The wireless connectivity will surely ease them.
The first beta also introduced emoji picker. All the emoji are in the form of smileys. They are being organized by the picker organizes into categories in a list that is available if you keep scrolling down. One interesting feature is support for the two-step verification process by Google. You can log into your gmail account and then add it to iOS. As soon as you add the account, a password will be generated, next you need to verify the account by entering the password.
When the second beta was seeded, the ‘beta’ tag was found to be removed from iCloud Photo library. The second has come with some cool features. But alongside, there are shortcomings as well. It is not compatible with LTE Voice on network providers like Verizon. If you are a Verizon subscriber downloading iOS 8.3, then set LTE to data-only. Earlier, there were some glitches in the dialog appearing during the connection between an iPhone and a CarPlay-compatible car. But with the second beta, Apple has introduced a fix.
The build number of iOS 8.3 beta 2 is 12F5037. The second beta arrived with Xcode build of 6D532l and swift language version of 1.2. Apple seeded the beta exclusively for developers, and that too on test hardware.

Performance wise, the second iOS 8.3 beta is better than the first beta. A video uploaded by Cult of Mac shows an iPhone 4S running iOS 8.3 beta 2 is working pretty fast. Those who tested iOS 8.3 beta 2 on their devices, reported their devices seem significantly more stable and faster with it, the most joyous piece of news is the animations are now faster and more fluid. Apps are also showing speed.
If it is taken in stride that iPhone 4S is at the bottom of the pyramid when it comes to iOS 8 supported iPhones, iPhone 5, 5S, 6 and 6S users enough reasons to cheer because those devices more than 512 RAM and better capacity chipsets, implying iOS 8.3 will run better on those devices.
The only nitpicking thing about the second beta is the unwanted emoji controversy. The controversy was stirred as the emoji were racially diverse. Despite Asians feeling angered for the ultra-yellow emoji selection, Apple, is however, undaunted and adding more gender and gadget specific emoji such as iPhone 6 and Apple Watch emoji.
All in all, iOS 8.3 has been really happening and we are optimist the GM version release of the OS will entertain iOS users. The final release will reportedly take place in March this year, which means it’s only a matter of a month.
