Lately, Apple and IBM has decided to enter into a partnership so that the two companies can act as a team for creating enterprise apps specially for the iPhones and iPads. Moreover, it also plans to further develop the cloud service and open a specialty AppleCare service to look into the problems of the enterprise customers. These products will be known as ‘IBM MobileFirst for iOS Solutions’ and iPads and iPhones with these new facilities/services will be sold by IBM to enterprise customers.
In the press conference Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has said that the launch of iPhones and iPads has brought about a change in the way people conduct their day to day work. To quote his words,
“iPhone and iPad are the best mobile devices in the world and have transformed the way people work with over 98 percent of the Fortune 500 and over 92 percent of the Global 500 using iOS devices in their business today.” To make a better use of this opportunity Apple has planned to utilize IBM’s data analytics capabilities by making it available to the iOS users. Such initiative will definitely widen the market of Apple. Tim Cook said, “This is a radical step for enterprise and something that only Apple and IBM can deliver.”
So from now onwards we would see Apple and IBM working as a team to develop a wide range of apps encompassing different fields like health, travel, retail, banking, telecommunication, insurance etc exclusively for the iPads and iPhones or compatible with the iOS platform. These apps will definitely bring about a dynamic change in the way we conduct business i.e. it will be made much easier and efficient and in turn both the partners are planning to reap a lot of more revenue.
These apps are expected to be released in early or fall 2015 along with “IBM MobileFirst Platform for iOS”. In the press release it was stated that the next iOS platform would also include “analytics, workflow and cloud storage, to fleet scale device management, security and integration.” IBM is also planning to provide package service to companies who plan to use these apps and it will comprise of “device activation, supply and management”.
We have also said about the launch of the AppleCare for Enterprise service. This is primarily aimed at providing the IT sectors and end users with constant assistance. Such services will be provided by the Apple’s famed customer support group. Whereas the onsite service will be provided by IBM.
