Skype Gets iOS 8 Treatment, Blessed with Interactive Notifications

The iOS 8 devices, the new iPhones, are finally available in the market, and we’re now seeing updates for the apps rolling out for the latest Apple mobile OS. In the series, Skype has just got its name added as the popular messaging app has got an iOS-8 friendly update. The updated app comes with interactive notifications, which apparently tells that the updated version is meant to take full advantage of what Apple has got to offer new and impressive in its latest mobile OS.

With the new notification interface, you can respond to various activities from the notices itself. No need to be in the world of complexity anymore. With this new impressive update, Skype has become full-fledged voice and text replacement service. If you are using more than just the traditional cellular services, then this new update is nothing less than a boon for you.

In the new app, just swipe left to decline or answer inbound voice, you can use the swipe to select if you want to answer to the incoming call via video or voice only. It makes taking calls easy when you are at lock screen. Pull down the notifications at top to answer the incoming call when you have your screen unlocked. Swiping the notification can also be used to reply back to missed calls or simply to text back to them.

You can respond to the messages as well on the lock screen. For the new coming messages, simply swipe left to reply. And, if it’s banner notification, simply pull it down to leave your reply in no time. This is unlike Apple’s message app which requires you to unlock the device first and then type the intended message in the type box that pops up. Of course, the new feature still needs you to enter your PIN or use your Touch ID to unlock the device. After doing so, you can reply in-line.

To cut the long story short, we must say that Skype has won hearts of millions of iOS 8 users with its new update. Skype has become one of few early apps that are meant to take advantage of Apple’s much admired new notification system. This latest update will help Skype keep the iOS 8 users interest in its services. A big boon for Microsoft to fight against its rival apps, which have been increasing in count for a while.
