If you have downloaded the update and come across a technical glitch, you could take help from Apple’s support board by clicking here.

The point of writing this article is not to help users download the update. We are assuming they have downloaded it already. We’d like to inform them TaiG has already released a jailbreak for the update.

TaiG is offering jailbreak tutorial for iOS 8.0-8.1.2 on its website. It clearly indicates the jailbreak has landed already. The TaiG tool that is capable of jailbreaking the new iOS 8 update is version 1.2. As the tool supports only Windows, make sure your machine is running Windows OS. If you use a Mac computer, then you need to run a virtual machine on OS X and install Windows on that machine.

In this article, we’ll offer step-by-step guide to both Windows and Mac users. The Linux users might feel left out, but there’s nothing we could do about it.

Jailbreaking iOS 8.1.2 on Windows

First you need to make sure your passcode lock is disabled, you are signed out of iCloud or even if you are not signed out, the “Find My iPhone” on your iPhone (Assuming you are using an iPhone) is disabled. Next you need to start your Windows machine.

Two things to watch out for are, the iOS 8.1.2 should be a fresh installation and your Windows machine must be having iTunes installed before you connect your iOS device to it. Once you are sure both checkboxes are ticked, plug in your iPhone to your Windows computer. Next you need to download TaiG 1.2.0. You can download it by clicking here.

The download is in .zip format and little more than 47MB in size. Save the file on your desktop and click on it. A small window will pop up on your screen and recognize your iOS device and the iOS version. You’ll find the green colored ‘Start’ button at the bottom. Before clicking on it, have 3K assistant app install icon unchecked.

The download might take few minutes. Once it is complete, you will see a smiley on the small window that earlier popped up right by the notification ‘Jailbreak Successful’ and a green colored ‘Close’ button at the bottom. Click on it to close the window and tap on the newly launched Cydia on your iOS device. Once Cydia is done with preparing filesystems, you can start enjoying the jailbroken iOS 8.1.2.

Jailbreaking iOS 8.1.2 on Mac

It’s slightly more difficult than jailbreaking on Windows, but if you follow our tutorial, then you won’t face any problem. The very first thing you need to do is download and install VMWare Fusion on your computer. It’s a .dmg file and 338MB in size. Next, download the Windows 7 Enterprise ISO by clicking here. It comes with a 3-months trial period. You should save it on your desktop.

Next, you need to run VMWare Fusion and install Windows 7 from a disc. Then launch Windows 7 from VMWare Fusion and install VMWare tools. After the installation of the tools, restart the virtual machine. Start IE and download and install iTunes. Then download TaiG jailbreak tool for iOS 8.1.2.

All other steps should be the ones described before.

It’s quite surprising that TaiG has released a jailbreak before Pangu or Evad3rs. However, from a user’s point of view, it doesn’t really matter; all that matters is whether or not he’s using the jailbroken latest iOS version and our tutorial ensures that he’s iOS device is running it.
